A real ‘big fish’ story at Lake Arrowhead!
Beautiful 540 acre Lake Arrowhead has always been known for great fishing.
Lake Arrowhead resident, Jerry McGhee, was truly reminded of this fact when he
caught the ‘big one’ while fishing on Tuesday, March 23, 2010.
Jerry’s hook snagged a very handsome 14 pound largemouth bass that gave him quite a fight in the process of reeling it in. Although not the largest fish ever caught on Lake Arrowhead, this fish story reminds everyone enjoying life at Lake Arrowhead that there are many great fishing and boating days ahead as spring and summer approaches.
The world record largemouth bass was caught near Jacksonville, Georgia on June 2, 1932 by George Perry. It weighed 22 pounds 4 ounces and was caught from an oxbow lake off the Ocmulgee River called Montgomery Lake. This is one of the most sough-after records in the fishing world.
Perhaps a world record bass is still waiting to be caught from Lake Arrowhead. One thing is for sure… many Lake Arrowhead resident fisherman are eager to find out.
